What repairs have been done?
As of August 2021, out of the 193 total units in Plaza East, 32 have completed Life Safety system repairs, and 104 units are partially complete. A Life Safety system is a building’s components and systems that help protect building occupants during fires and other emergencies.
Other repair work includes floor replacement in various units.
Who is the Property Management?
John Stewart Co took over property management in June 2021.
What is the Tenant Council?
The Tenant Council is an elected group of residents who represent their fellow tenants. It was created to improve the quality of life and the satisfaction of residents. The Council participates in initiatives to enable residents to create a positive living environment for families.
How do I join the Tenant Council?
Any member of a public housing household whose name is on the lease of a unit and meets the requirements of the by-laws is eligible to be a member. All voting members of the resident community must be given sufficient notice (at least 30 days) for nomination and election. There are typically 5 seats: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Sergeant-at-Arms. To elect the Council, there must be a neutral, independent third-party entity to oversee the election process.

This website is a part of the Community / Connected / Change campaign designed to reimagine Plaza East. This website was created by Urban Strategies Inc. to aid residents in staying up to date on and advocating for the reimagining of their neighborhood. This website is still considered a work in progress and is continually being updated with input directly from the residents themselves.
